Terms of use
Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms cover the CutoutXR app and this website. By downloading or using CutoutXR you agree to them. "We" means CutoutXR; you can reach us at [email protected].
Your licence to use CutoutXR
- Free version: you may use it on Macs you own or control. It makes cut-outs of up to 20 seconds with a small CutoutXR watermark.
- Paid licence: a licence key unlocks the full version for you, on Macs you own or control. It covers the version you bought and the updates we release for it. A future major version may be a separate purchase, and we'll say so clearly if it is.
- A licence key is for you. Don't share it publicly, resell it or publish it.
Your videos, and what you do with them
CutoutXR works on your Mac and your headset. We never receive your videos or your cut-outs.
You're responsible for what you put into CutoutXR and for how you use what it makes. Only use videos you have the right to use, and only of people who agree to it. Don't use CutoutXR to break the law, or to invade anyone's privacy or other rights.
What you may not do
- Remove or get around the licence check or the free version's limits.
- Sell, rent or give away copies of CutoutXR, or licence keys, other than as these terms allow.
CutoutXR includes open-source software, listed under Licences & credits in the app. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences. That includes your right, under the GNU LGPL, to replace or modify the FFmpeg library CutoutXR uses, and to debug those changes.
Buying a licence
Purchases are handled by our online reseller, which acts as the merchant of record. It takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt. Its checkout terms also apply to the purchase. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout. For refunds, see our refund policy.
Updates and support
We may release updates that fix problems or add features. If something isn't working, email [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.
No warranty
CutoutXR is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but to the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will be error-free or suit every purpose. Results depend on your videos, your Mac and your headset; that's why the free version exists, so you can check first.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for CutoutXR in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that the law says can't be limited, including your rights as a consumer.
Ending
You can stop using CutoutXR at any time. If you break these terms, for example by publishing your licence key, your licence ends and you must stop using the paid version.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes don't take away rights you already have for a version you've bought.
Trademarks
Meta Quest is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. CutoutXR isn't affiliated with either company.
